Re: Thank you

Hello Kuni,

Ohayo-gozaimasu
Thank you for replying! Do you want to talk about Taiko? An easy subject for me since it is about all I do except work. This last week-end was the beginning of the Cherry Blossom Festival here in San Francisco which means LOTS of Taiko drumming. In America, San Francisco Taiko Dojo is considered to be the best on this side of the Pacific and we play several demonstrations and shows during the two week-ends of the festival. This week-end we opened the festival with a free concert on Saturday and I could hardly believe how many people came to watch. Playing to big crowd the best because of all the energy you get from the crowd. This year we opened with Hiriyu San Dan Gaeshi. Do you know this song? This year I played Odiako on this song and was even on the TV news. I have never seen myself on TV before so that was pretty cool.

Next week-end will be more exciting though. We host the US-Japan Taiko Festival, which is a big Taiko concert with groups from America and Japan. This year from Japan we have Masakado Taiko, Tomisato Hizume Taiko, Kanda Jinja Gagaku. Have you seen or heard any of these groups play before? If you have I would like to know what you think of them. Well, I have to get back to work now. Please write back and tell me about your group and what you are doing. I would like to know stuff like how often you play, how long you have been playing and how you train for taiko. If you would like, I will send you one of our CD's too!

I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Oyasumi nasai,
Rik

Re: Re: Thank you

Hello Rik.

First of all, I have one thing to tell you. I'm sorry but I don't know about Tomisato Hizume Taiko or Kanda Jinnjya Gagaku at all. Our Hi no Taiko doesn't concern them. Our performing has kept traditional style which passed down from generation to generation for long time. So perhaps it is different from the playing you might imagine. However, I am interested in your activity. and if you send your CD, I'll accept your favor.

Ro-maji ga wakarunara Ro-maji de hanashi tai desu.

Thank you.

Kuni
