TAKIDANJI-TEMPLETakidanji temple was founded at the end of 14th century, and received protection from the feudal lords of Echizen. The mossy grounds cover 6,600m2, and the path leading to the temple is lined with impressive ceder trees. The garden behind the main buildings has a definite 'jene sais quoi'. Inside there is much of cultural interest, including a national treasure-a gilt-bronze kei (a kind of gong), elegantly engraved with Hosoge (symmettrical floral patterns). Also, a painting, on silk, of the guardian deity of children, sitting on a rock.10-minute walk from keifuku Mikuni Station
